WING appoints dr. Katalin Walter as CEO for Hungary as group separates chairman and CEO roles

WING, one of Central Europe's most active privately owned real estate development and investment groups, has restructured its leadership with effect from 1 April 2026, separating the roles of Chairman and CEO at its Hungarian operating company, WING Zrt. Noah Steinberg, who has held the combined position, will continue as Chairman of WING Zrt. and retain his dual role as Chairman and CEO of WINGHOLDING, overseeing the group's broader domestic and international interests. Dr. Katalin Walter steps into the newly defined CEO role, taking charge of day-to-day operations in Hungary.

"Over the past twenty-five years, our group has evolved from a domestic real estate development company into a regional real estate group with an active development and investment presence in Hungary, Germany, and Poland. Our growing international presence as well as the increasing complexity of our operations justify our diverse activities on the Hungarian real estate market being placed under the leadership of a dedicated executive."

Steinberg
 added:

"Katalin's professional experience and leadership track record provide a solid foundation for the further development of WING Hungary, building on our values and on-going success."

Dr. Walter brings more than 15 years of international consultancy and corporate management experience to the role, including a decade and a half at McKinsey and Company in Frankfurt and Budapest, senior involvement in the regional management and integration of several financial institutions, and most recently the top executive post at the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK). Her appointment signals a deliberate professionalisation of WING's Hungarian leadership structure as the group's cross-border complexity grows.

"WING has built exceptionally solid foundations in Hungary and across the region over the past decades. As CEO, my goal is to build on these to further carry on and strengthen this success story, making our organisation more efficient and more agile while adapting to the changing market environment and enhancing our competitiveness."

For investors and developers, the restructuring carries a signal beyond the headline appointment. WING's total developed portfolio across Germany, Poland and Hungary now stands at 5.7m m², with nearly €2bn invested in Hungarian real estate development alone, covering approximately 1.4m m² of floor space. The group holds a majority stake in ECHO Investment, one of Poland's largest listed real estate developers, and BAUWERT, a leading German residential and commercial developer. The creation of a dedicated CEO for the Hungarian market, freed from group-level strategic duties, points to a sharper operational focus at a time when the Central European real estate cycle is at a pivotal point for capital deployment, particularly in the office, logistics and residential segments where WING is most active.

WING's residential arm, LIVING, has launched more than 2,300 apartments across 11 projects since 2017, selling approximately 2,000 units and completing handover on nearly 1,500 homes across eight finished developments. With a new CEO focused exclusively on Hungary, the pace of decision-making across WING's diversified domestic portfolio, spanning office, industrial, retail, hotel and residential assets, is expected to accelerate.
