Malgorzata Fibakiewicz takes the helm at BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland

After seven years steering BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland through one of the most testing stretches in the region's recent property history, Erik Drukker is stepping aside. Taking his place as Chief Executive Officer is Malgorzata Fibakiewicz, a 20 year veteran of the Polish commercial real estate sector whose appointment marks a new chapter for one of the country's most active advisory platforms.

Malgorzata Fibakiewicz built her career from an office agency background before moving across the business, leading multidisciplinary teams spanning transaction advisory, business intelligence, consultancy, research and strategic advisory. That breadth, unusual in a market where specialists tend to stay in their lane, has shaped a leadership style colleagues describe as collaborative and client focused, qualities that will be tested as she now sets the strategic direction for the entire Polish operation.

"Poland is a strategic market for BNP Paribas Real Estate, and I am confident that Malgorzata's leadership will enable us to further strengthen our position and accelerate our development in the country. At a time when our industry is undergoing profound transformation, her ability to bring together teams, anticipate market trends and foster collaboration across our business lines will be a key asset in delivering long-term value for our clients and partners," says Jean-Maxime Jouis, CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate.

Malgorzata Fibakiewicz succeeds Erik Drukker, who leaves behind a business in markedly stronger shape than the one he inherited. Over his seven years at the helm, and 13 years with the company overall, he lifted both turnover and profitability through a sustained run of growth despite a difficult operating backdrop, while also pushing the business to invest in innovation and data driven tools that now underpin its client offering. BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland credits him with building a platform designed to outlast his own tenure.

The handover lands at a telling moment for Poland's investment market. Total investment volume across the country's commercial property sector reached approximately €2.3bn across around 50 deals in the first five months of 2026, with May alone generating roughly €1.1bn, double the volume recorded over the previous four months combined. That momentum has been accompanied by a structural shift on the buyer side, with domestic Polish capital steadily widening its share of total investment volume, climbing by more than 11 percentage points year on year. For investors and developers weighing fresh exposure to Poland, a change of leadership at one of the market's most active advisory houses, arriving just as local capital deepens and deal volumes accelerate, is worth watching closely.

Before joining BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland, Malgorzata Fibakiewicz spent more than a decade across corporate real estate and banking, holding senior roles at DTZ (now Cushman & Wakefield), CBRE and Kredyt Bank. She has led complex portfolio management mandates, lease negotiations, workplace transformations and large scale expansion projects for major financial institutions, and holds postgraduate degrees in real estate management from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and in banking from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), alongside a degree in classical philology from the University of Lodz.
