Siemens has announced plans to open a new 33,000m² office location near Munich’s East Station by the end of 2027. The development, currently under construction, will provide a modern workplace environment for around 4,000 employees and marks a strategic move from its existing Munich-Perlach offices to the evolving Werksviertel district.
The company originally sold and leased back its Munich-Perlach location in 2010. Now, with its commitment to sustainability and efficiency, Siemens is integrating its workforce into this inter-urban structure, enhancing flexibility while supporting its long-term carbon-neutral goals.
A Future-Oriented Workplace
The office will reflect Siemens’ New Work Concept, which blends in-office and mobile working, reducing floorspace requirements while introducing innovative architectural solutions. The company plans to integrate its own state-of-the-art, sustainability-oriented building technologies, reinforcing its identity as a forward-looking technology leader.
"The new offices will offer us a great deal of flexibility while providing a modern, forward-looking workplace environment," said Veronika Bienert, member of the Siemens Managing Board responsible for Siemens Real Estate. "The inter-urban location in Munich’s Werksviertel is also very easy to reach by public transport, offers an inclusive working environment, and is located in an attractive area close to other innovative companies and to all the amenities a city has to offer, including shopping facilities, banks, postal services, cultural venues and a wealth of cafés, bars and restaurants. The new, sustainability-oriented building also supports Siemens’ declared goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030."
A Key Development in Munich’s Werksviertel
The Werksviertel district, adjacent to Munich’s East Station, is among the largest urban development projects in the city. A wide pedestrian promenade, lined with two new office buildings, will form the gateway to the site. The development, designed by Holger Meyer Architektur, is being constructed by Cologne-based Pandion. Siemens is set to occupy one of the two buildings upon completion in 2027.
Approximately two-thirds of Siemens’ 6,000 Munich-Perlach employees will relocate to the Werksviertel office, while the remaining teams will transition to the Siemens Technology Center Garching, which opened north of Munich in 2024, as well as the Siemens Mobility site in Munich’s Allach district and the company’s headquarters in the city centre.
"With these four attractive locations, we’ll be strongly positioned in and around Munich and thus offer our people an appealing and flexible workplace environment," added Bienert.
