Reiss & Co completes new Stuttgart hotel development (DE)

Reiss & Co completes

Reiss & Co has completed the new hotel building on the site of the former EnBW Stuttgart headquarters between Kriegsbergstrasse and Jagerstrasse and has handed it over to the insurer Zurich Group Germany. The plans for the new "Motel One" budget hotel were designed by the famous Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei (LRO) architectural practice, which had designed the adjoining award-winning complex in 1996. The new hotel building provides 414 rooms, extending over six floors and a set-back top storey. "Motel One" also offers 145 underground parking spaces for its guests.

The construction works on the property started in the second quarter of 2018. In November 2018, Projekt Stuttgart Kriegsbergstrasse GmbH sold the development to Zurich Group Germany on the basis of a forward deal.

Jurgen Klein, branch manager of Reiss & Co, commented: "The design of the new 'Motel One' on Kriegsbergstrasse masterfully unites our stipulation for creativity with the requirements for consistent cityscape-defining architecture with our adjacent existing building, which dates from 1996."

The construction work was facilitated by the real estate consultants Drees & Sommer SE. "Acting as a type of temporary construction department, we dealt intensively with the requirements and visions of Motel One," commented Drees & Sommer project manager Nicole Stillig. “Thanks to lively discussions, we have been able to implement all the requests for modifications within the timeframe."

The investment volume totalled €150m.
