Accor is expanding its presence in Hungary by announcing the upcoming opening of the Swissotel Budapest Lagoon. This flagship project is the result of a partnership between Accor and Forty Management. The property is set to open in 2028 and will be the first of the premium brands in Hungary.
Featuring 200 rooms and suites with views of a state-of-the-art man-made lagoon on the banks of the Danube, this ESG-compliant project will set a new standard for hospitality innovation in the region. Lagoon City is an eco-friendly and urban transformation of a former industrial area and will be 100% self-sustainable from an energy standpoint, thanks to green technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps.
The property will be situated on the eastern bank of a secondary branch of the Danube, in the Pesterzsebet neighborhood of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Swissotel Budapest Lagoon will offer a comprehensive hospitality package and exclusive access to the private lagoon with a beach area, which will be transformed into an ice skating rink in winter. The hotel will feature 200 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a lobby bar, spa, wellness and fitness facilities, a conference room, and a 200-space parking lot.
The hotel operator selection process was coordinated with the assistance of Mircea Ioan Draghici, managing partner of Est Hospitality Consulting.
