Westquay unveils new concept store (GB)

The Bok Shop, the South Coast-based homemade fried chicken brand, has joined forces with London sneaker boutique OffGrid to create a completely new retail experience – the first of its kind nationally – which will open in Westquay in March. The restaurant will host a bespoke limited-edition sneaker display, allowing customers to dine while purchasing the latest Yeezys and coveted Air Jordan Diors from trainer experts. Evenings and weekends will also come alive with regular music-led events, celebrating this unique cultural collision.

On the menu will be mouth-watering free-range chicken burgers, tenders and wings, with vegan options available. Inspired by London’s fried chicken scene, the 100-cover venue at Westquay will offer a balance of contemporary and nostalgic street food cooked with fresh homemade ingredients in state-of-the-art Henny Penny pressure fryers. The new 3,700ft² restaurant will be The Bok Shop’s fourth and follows its success in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. The brand plans to roll-out 10 new sites in the next two years.

Jamie O'Mara, co-founder of The Bok Shop, said: “We’re bringing our love of fried chicken together with ultra-rare sneakers in a way that hasn’t been done before, and we can’t wait to bring this exciting concept to the people of Southampton. It’s been an exciting journey watching our business grow from a single shop in Brighton to multiple sites across the South Coast, with Southampton representing the natural next step in our expansion.”

Harry Badham, Chief Development and Asset Repositioning Officer, Hammerson, said: “This collaboration and partnership is a sign of how retail and dining are changing and coming together in new ways to create special places for our customers. The Bok Shop’s innovation and ethical credentials are aligned with our own ambitions.”
