Warsaw popular among brands entering Polish market (PL)

The total stock of shopping centres in the Warsaw agglomeration amounts to 1.4 mln m² located within 42 schemes. The 84,000 m² of new space remains under construction within seven projects, 30% of the new stock is constituted by extensions of existing shopping centres. Despite the significant amount of stock, the retail space density ratio is at an average level of 546 m² /1,000 inhabitants. The vacancy rate stood at 1.5% – according to Colliers International publication “Shopping centres in Warsaw H1 2015”.

 

Shopping centres in Warsaw began to appear in the 1990s with the following schemes being built then: IKEA in Janki near Warsaw, HIT (presently Tesco) at Górczewska Sreet, E. Leclerc at Ciszewskiego Street, CH Atrium Promenada, Klif, M1 Marki,CH Atrium Reduta and CH Atrium Targówek. The best known projects were built in the period 2002 to 2007 and include such projects as: Arkadia, Złote Tarasy, Galeria Mokotów, Blue City and the first outlet centre in the Polish market - Factory Ursus.

 

Among all the planned investments the construction of which is due to take place in the next three years, worthy of mention are: Galeria Północna (64,000 m² GLA), Galeria Wilanów (61,000 m² GLA), Galeria Piaseczno (44,300 m² GLA), as well the multifunctional complexes of Art Norblin (24,000 m² GLA for retail/service) and Centrum Praskie Koneser (21,000 m² GLA for retail/service).
