Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort is set to reopen in 2025 (RO)

Brothers Dragos and Adrian Paval, the owners of Dedeman, are planning to reopen the 5-star Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort, a nearly 150-year-old establishment located in the Swiss town of Flims. They took over the resort in the fall, alongside Lithuanian hotel operator Apex Alliance Hotel Management, with the aim to reopen it for the winter season of 2025 after undergoing a renovation process.

The Waldhaus Flims Wellness Resort was previously owned by the US investment company Z Capital Partners, which purchased it in December 2015. The resort was closed in the summer of 2023 due to financial challenges, primarily linked to rising energy costs.

This acquisition marks the second investment for Paval Holding, the Paval brothers' group from Bacau, following the purchase of the historic Grand Hotel Gardone in Italy in 2023. Meanwhile, Apex Alliance is expanding its portfolio to a total of 17 hotels across Europe, including five located in Bucharest.

The new owners are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the unique characteristics of the Waldhaus Flims, which include its historic buildings and interior design. Built in 1877 and fully renovated in the fall of 2016, the resort sits within the largest hotel park in Switzerland and features a wellness oasis, along with six restaurants and bars. The hotel complex consists of four interconnecting buildings that reflect the grandeur of the Belle Époque period and offer nearly 150 rooms. The Waldhaus is one of the largest hotels and spas in Switzerland, situated in the Flims/Laax mountains at an elevation of 1,100m above sea level.
