The winners of Hotel Property of the Year has been announced as part of the gala evening of hotelforum 2015 which took place on the 7th of October.
Hotel Zoo Berlin was announced as the winner of Hotel Property of the Year. The monument building, built in 1892, was classified as a VIP hotel in the 1950s, characterised by its unusual architectonic combinations such as the seven metre high door of the lobby, the brick wall coated in gold leaf or the stucco ceiling with coeval street art and exposed tubes.
Andreas Martin, hotelforum jury-chairman commented: “Hotel Zoo Berlin convinced the jury, because it has immediately found its niche within the hotel market of Berlin. The aging hotel has been carefully renovated by its new owners, underperforming gastronomy outlets were turned into high-class retail areas and the newly positioned hotel now matches up to the current developments at its location, Kurfürstendamm”.
16 jurors selected three finalists (Hafenhotel Meereszeiten Heiligenhafen, Hotel Schani Wien and Hotel Zoo Berlin) from 23 applications.
