Rockspring announced that Richard Bains and Tom Walsh have been promoted to Partner, joining Rockspring’s board with immediate effect. In addition, the firm has further strengthened its team with two appointments into newly created roles. Rikesh Parmar has been appointed as Head of Corporate Development, and John Kehoe as an Assistant Director in the UK Transactions Team.
Richard Bains, newly appointed Partner – Fund Management, joined Rockspring in January 2009 as a Fund Manager. Richard is primarily responsible for the Fund Management of the UK Value series of funds, and also oversees Rockspring’s Fund Advisory team. Under Richard’s management Rockspring’s UK Value 1 Fund has now realised over a third of its investments following successful implementation of the Fund’s business plan. Richard is currently leading the fundraising for UK Value 2 which is anticipating a first close imminently.
Tom Walsh, newly appointed Partner – Transactions, joined Rockspring in 2005 as a member of the European transaction team. Tom is primarily responsible for European Transactions for Rockspring’s separate account clients; he also oversees the Fund Advisory team alongside Richard Bains. Since 2005, he has invested approximately €1.2bn of equity in over 40 transactions across nine European countries. The deals have been in all sectors of the market, and a large number have been with local operating partners including ECE and Hammerson.
Rikesh Parmar, joining as Head of Corporate Development, will work closely with Rockspring’s Executive, Strategy and Operations Committees on various strategic and operational initiatives. Prior to joining Rockspring, Rikesh worked at the BBC where he was responsible for portfolio and investment management across the Corporation’s circa £1 billion UK property estate over a three year period of restructuring. Prior to this he held the position of Finance Director at a private equity firm, and has several years of international experience with Ernst & Young and Deloitte.
John Kehoe, joining as an Assistant Director in the UK Transactions Team, will be responsible for the origination and execution of investment opportunities, as well as the opportune disposal of currently held investments. With eight years’ experience across all main property sectors in the UK and continental Europe, John has notable experience and knowledge across a broad base of transaction activities, including asset management and transaction structuring, occupational and corporate real estate transactions and real estate debt and equity origination. He joins Rockspring from Round Hill Capital, where he was a Vice President, first in the asset management team and, latterly, in the originations and execution team.
