Radisson Hotel Group unveils multi-city expansion across Romania with four new developments

Radisson Hotel Group is making a powerful move in the Romanian hospitality market with the announcement of four landmark projects set to open by 2028. These developments, totalling over 76,000 m² of built space, reflect the Group’s strategic focus on high-growth, tourism-driven markets and are expected to reshape both urban and resort hospitality landscapes across the country.

Leading the expansion is Radisson RED Bucharest Old Town, the brand’s first in Romania. A historic 1940s former office building, once home to the Institute of Hydroelectric Studies, will be converted into a 104-room lifestyle hotel in Bucharest’s iconic Old Town. Scheduled to open in 2027, the project will include a rooftop pop-up venue, a co-working lounge, and a multipurpose events room of 100 m². Its location, combined with the Group’s edgy RED concept, is designed to attract both experience-driven travellers and young professionals.

In the mountain town of Bra?ov, Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort is expected to open in early 2027. Situated in the Carpathian Mountains, this all-season resort will offer a mix of outdoor adventure and spa luxury, positioning itself as a magnet for Romania’s growing nature and wellness tourism. For developers, the appeal lies in year-round occupancy potential and premium ADRs driven by skiing in winter and hiking and biking in summer.

Set to elevate Romania’s Black Sea coastline, Radisson Blu Resort & Residences, Mamaia will introduce 234 rooms and 102 branded residences by 2028. Spread across a large-scale beachfront site, the development will include Presidential Suites, duplex apartments, a 500 m² spa and fitness centre, and multiple F&B outlets. These branded residences are likely to attract both international buyers and regional HNWIs, offering developers attractive hybrid yields from sales and rental operations.

Radisson Lagoon Hotel Bucharest, part of the Central District Lagoon City mixed-use scheme, will bring 323 rooms, a 1,100 m² artificial beach, access to a 10,000 m² lagoon, and extensive wellness and leisure amenities. This urban resort concept is one of the first of its kind in Romania, with strong potential to anchor further commercial development in Bucharest’s evolving southern corridor.

“Romania is a dynamic and rapidly growing market for hotel development. The country's recent accession to the Schengen Area is expected to boost travel, trade, and tourism by eliminating border controls and facilitating easier movement of capital. This development, combined with Romania's size, rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities, makes it a candidate for focused growth,” said Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer at Radisson Hotel Group.
