Futureal Group powers 500,000 m² portfolio with 100% green energy

Futureal Group powers 500,000 m² portfolio with 100% green energy

A €5m investment shifts Hungarian flagship assets - including office, retail and industrial sites, to fully renewable electricity.

Futureal Group, one of Europe’s leading real estate investors and developers, has completed a full transition to green electricity across its Hungarian portfolio, covering over 500,000 m² of office, commercial, industrial, and residential developments. The group now powers flagship properties such as Budapest ONE, Corvin Innovation Campus, Etele Plaza, and HelloParks megaparks with 100% renewable energy, reducing annual CO? emissions by more than 8,500 tonnes.

The transition, launched in January 2025, includes not only grid-sourced certified green electricity but also on-site energy generation. Thanks to a €5m investment funded by Futureal, 15% of the buildings now operate using solar-powered systems, setting a new benchmark for low-carbon real estate operations in Central Europe.

“Green energy is not just a sustainability goal, but also a competitive advantage in the real estate market. By applying renewable energy across our entire portfolio, we are not only reducing environmental impact but also ensuring more stable and cost-efficient energy supply for our tenants in the long run,” said Mark Balastyai, CEO of Futureal Energy, the group’s energy division.

The move is fully aligned with the EU’s 2050 net-zero targets and the Paris Agreement, with ESG principles embedded from planning to operation. Standout achievements include BREEAM Excellent ratings for office assets, Hungary’s first BREEAM Outstanding industrial development (HelloParks Maglód MG3), and the first EU Taxonomy-compliant warehouse (FT1, Fót). For investors, these certifications enhance asset resilience and long-term value in a regulatory landscape where green compliance is fast becoming non-negotiable.

Cordia, the residential arm of Futureal, has also joined the transition. Since 2024, all new developments—including Marina City, a transformative 2,500-home urban project on a 14-hectare Danube brownfield site - have been built using green energy, reinforcing the group’s reputation as a frontrunner in sustainable urban living.
