Prologis, Inc., the leading global owner, operator and developer of logistics real estate, today announced it has signed a lease agreement for distribution center Schiphol DC2. The agreement concerns a total of 13,700 m² at Schiphol-Rijk and is one of the largest transactions at Schiphol recently.
This is the third deal at Schiphol for Prologis this year, evidencing increased demand for high-quality real estate at this strategic logistic location.
The ten year lease is signed by a leading provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral colocation data center services in Europe. Prologis is one of the largest owners and operators of logistics real estate in the Schiphol region. With seventeen strategically located state-of-the-art distribution centers, Prologis manages around 195,000 m² of logistics real estate in Schiphol. The centers are situated near various main roads (N201, A4 and A9) and are well served by public transport to both the main terminal of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Amsterdam, Hoofddorp and Amstelveen.
Bram Verhoeven, vice president of Prologis Benelux: ‘We are delighted with this special, large transaction with a strong customer who has committed to us for the long term. With a third deal within the first five months of 2013 in the Schiphol region, we are seeing a reversal in market fortunes. At Schiphol, we not only have an existing portfolio of high-quality logistics real estate, which includes Prologis Park Schiphol DC2, but we also have various build-to-suit options. These are new projects at strategic locations which are tailored to customer needs. In this way, we can keep pace with growing demand in the short term.’
With a portfolio of 1.2 million m² divided over 62 buildings, Prologis is one of the leading operators in the market for distribution centers in the Benelux. For this acquisition, Prologis was supported by a lease advisory team consisting of CBRE, Industrial, DTZ Zadelhoff and Schipholland.
