Newmark strengthens European finance team with four strategic hires

Newmark has appointed four senior figures to its European Debt, Equity and Structured Finance team, signalling an aggressive push into the continent's data centre and powered land sectors. The hires bring over €17bn in career transactions and deep expertise across residential, office, industrial and hospitality assets.

Andrew Allen joins as Head of Investment Strategy from Savills Investment Management, where he served as Global Chief Investment Officer for Equity Investment. Allen will lead bespoke thought leadership for investor clients, providing strategic insights on capital planning across Europe's rapidly expanding data centre and powered land markets, alongside commercial and residential sectors. His advisory roles with INREV, AREF and the Investment Property Forum add institutional credibility to Newmark's European ambitions.

Hoong Wey Woon arrives as Managing Director with over 25 years of transactional experience, having completed more than €17bn in career deals. Previously leading Real Estate, Lodging and Care Investment Banking teams at KPMG and DC Advisory Group, Woon will focus on cross-border M&A, capital raises and structured finance across healthcare, data centres, living, housebuilding and hospitality sectors.

Max Hagelstein joins as Director to manage European mandates alongside Woon, bringing experience from DC Advisory, Rivercrown, Aviva Investors and GIC. Phil Creed, also appointed as Director, contributes a corporate finance background spanning RBC, Citi and Nomura, with expertise in equity and debt financings across infrastructure and UK public transactions.

The appointments follow Newmark's recent recruitment of Hamish Smith from JLL and Oliver Weston from Knight Frank to expand its European Data Centre team. The coordinated hiring spree reflects growing institutional appetite for alternative assets, particularly as traditional office and retail sectors face structural headwinds. With Europe's data centre capacity expected to double by 2030 driven by AI infrastructure demands, Newmark's timing positions the firm to capture deal flow in a sector where financing structures remain complex and competition for prime sites intensifies.

Led by Charlie Foster and Matthew Featherstone in Europe, the expanded team will collaborate with existing operations in Germany, France and the UK, alongside Newmark's US Data Centre group. Michael Lehrman, President UK and Europe, stated: "We have hand-picked a distinguished class of appointees to join our exceptional Debt, Equity and Structured Finance team. They will focus their considerable expertise on financing the Data Centre and Powered Land sector, in addition to Office, Industrial and Residential mandates."
