Investec Bank supports Brydell Partners with financing for Oxford assets (UK)

Investec Bank plc has provided two senior loans to Brydell Partners, a UK-based real estate investment manager, to finance three prime Oxford assets. The loans are secured against a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme, a fully let office hub, and a BREEAM Excellent-rated office building, highlighting Investec’s ongoing support for the real estate sector in key regional cities.

The financing includes The Spireworks, a premium 140-bed PBSA located on Cowley Road, just a stone's throw from Oxford’s city centre, the University of Oxford, and Oxford Brookes University. In addition, North Bailey House, a fully let office building, sits in a highly desirable city centre location, providing excellent connectivity. Newtec, a mixed-use SME hub, offers local amenities and employment opportunities, serving as a focal point for businesses in the region.

These assets are part of journey, an innovative operating platform developed by Brydell Partners, which is focused on supporting the UK’s knowledge economies. The platform will provide a range of spaces, from urban labs and incubators to event spaces and residences, meeting growing demand in key markets such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Manchester. The loan enables Brydell Partners to pursue further acquisitions and development opportunities.

“This financing reinforces Investec's commitment to providing our clients with flexible, tailored funding solutions that support long-term growth and value creation,” said Ed Boughton, Director, Origination at Investec. “We were pleased to deliver this facility in a timeframe that allowed Brydell Partners to execute on its business plan for the PBSA asset, while freeing up liquidity to enable Brydell to unlock new opportunities at a highly attractive market entry point.”

Jeff Mackenzie at Brydell Partners added: “We are pleased to establish a relationship with Investec. These financings allow us to re-invest capital into our exciting development pipeline across the journey portfolio and pursue bolt-on acquisitions. Journey has aggregated 25 assets across Oxford, Cambridge, and Manchester and continues to target new opportunities.”
