Homes England and Network Rail team up for York Central scheme (GB)

Homes England has partnered up with Network Rail, the City of York Council, and the National Railway Museum to bring forward one of the UK’s largest regeneration sites, York Central.

Situated next to York Railway Station and covering 45 hectares, York Central offers a unique opportunity to create a vibrant and distinctive residential, cultural and commercial space at the heart of one of the country’s most historic cities.

When completed, the scheme will provide up to 2,500 homes, 20% of which will be affordable, and over 1 million ft² of commercial space for offices, retail, and leisure, providing a significant boost for the local economy.

Outline planning permission for the development was granted in December 2019 and Reserved Matters Application was approved in 2020 to deliver the first phase of infrastructure. Homes England and Network Rail are now working with JLL to seek a strategic developer/investor partner for the scheme.
