The new development project Hart van 's-Gravenzande in ‘s-Gravenzande will accommodate a Jumbo and a Lidl supermarket and a Big Bazar shop. Jumbo recently signed the definitive rental agreement for 1,900m² and Big Bazar for approximately 650m². Lidl will also return to the new centre with a shop floor area of approximately 1,600m². These national chains are scheduled to open their doors in the spring of 2017.

A number of existing businesses from 's-Gravenzande – previously located in Koningswerf or 's-Gravenhof – will also relocate to the new shopping centre. Negotiations are ongoing with candidates for fresh produce and specialised shops, apparel boutiques and restaurants and cafes. This establishes a healthy foundation for a proper mix between shops catering to day-to-day grocery needs and specialty stores.

Theo van der Plas, senior development manager with BPD, said: "We are very happy to confirm that Jumbo, Lidl and Big Bazar have committed to opening stores in ‘s-Gravenzande. Combined with the current businesses, this will create a diversity that ensures the centre of ‘s-Gravenzande will become a vibrant, attractive and appealing shopping area."

The city centre area, situated along Langestraat, Pompe van Meerdervoortstraat and Marktplein, is undergoing a full makeover. The new development of the Hart van 's-Gravenzande project will provide the Westland core of 's-Gravenzande a new and vibrant city centre. The project will include the construction of a new shopping street, which will create a shopping loop in the area, with a centrally located parking garage in the new development. The project will be comprised of a total of 9,000m² new and renovated shopping units along Langestraat and the market square. The Jumbo, Lidl and Big Bazar will be established in the new build component. The project is furthermore comprised of approximately 100 new and renovated apartments and approximately 300 parking spaces for shoppers and residents.

Sale of the apartments and letting of the shop units has already commenced. The entire new build project is a development of Development Combination ‘s-Gravenzande (full subsidiary of BPD), in conjunction with Westland Municipality and retail association Koopstad Aan Zee.
