formart GmbH & Co. KG, one of Germany’s leading developers of residential real estate, celebrated the topping-out at its The Mile! project last Friday, in the company of some 200 guests. This modern residential quarter is located on the historically important Chausseestrasse in Berlin-Mitte and comprises 271 residential units, as well around 730 m² of office and commercial space.

At the turn of the 20th century Chausseestrasse was the economic heart of the German empire. Today this area boasts numerous cultural amenities and a dynamic restaurant and retail scene. The new and representative headquarters of the Federal Intelligence Service is directly opposite The Mile!.

Carsten Sellschopf, formart COO says: “The Berlin real estate market is experiencing a boom like no other city. We are therefore delighted that we are already realising our second project in such a prestigious location.” Last year formart developed Chaussee 121, a residential project with 91 state-of-the-art condominiums, very close to The Mile!.

The Mile! is designed to appeal to a broad cross-section of buyers, featuring a range of different layouts and sizes, from 35 to 150 m². “By doing this we reflect the diverse population structure in Berlin-Mitte, from single person to young families to more mature individuals. What they all have in common is a desire for a high quality of urban life,” Sellschopf explains. formart will be offering future residents at The Mile! a little extra in the shape of a concierge service which will handle tasks such as shopping, cleaning and security.

Completion is planned for fall 2016. More than 90% of the apartments have already been sold. Apart from owner-occupiers, the buyers in Berlin-Mitte are primarily German and international investors.
