Decathlon opened its doors to Slovenian sport enthusiasts on April 16th, making its entry onto the market in BTC City Ljubljana, one of the largest business, shopping, recreational, entertainment and cultural centres in Europe.
The first Decathlon store in Slovenia extends over 2,750m² and offers sporting goods for both amateur and professional athletes across 70 sports disciplines, encompassing more than 100,000 products from international sporting goods brands and 20 Decathlon’s private labels under the umbrella brand name Passion Brands.
Products offered by Decathlon pertain to individual and team sports, including running, swimming, cycling, soccer, basketball, as well as hiking, surfing, horseback riding, archery and ballet; the variety refreshes the offering of sports equipment and clothing in BTC City Ljubljana. The company plans to expand to other Slovenian cities, securing over 100 new employment positions. A second Decathlon store could open in Slovenia by the end of 2016.
BTC City's diversified business portfolio, based on high standards of social and environmental sustainability, represents a highly integrated urban area. More than 450 shops, 60 bars and restaurants, 8,500 parking lots, a green market, two business towers, a start-up hub and accelerator, a theatre, a sports centre with five tennis courts and fitness facilities, and Atlantis Water Park, which consists of 16 pools, 17 saunas, and an adrenaline park, attracts more than 21 million visitors per year.
