Almost 300,000 customers from Szczecin and its surroundings visited the extended Galaxy shopping mall in the first week after the opening. The new part accommodates 45 stores that jointly occupy 15,150m² GLA. Thus, Galaxy has become the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the region, with GLA totalling 56,600m² and 168 stores, service points, cafes, restaurants, and an entertainment part.
Brands still absent in Szczecin, like popular and long-awaited fashion brand Forever 21, Aldo, Homla, Le Creuset or Poland’s first Tefal by Home & Cook concept have come to the city. Footwear brand CCC has moved to the new part occupying two-stories premises with high, elegant shop windows and an impressive space of 2,267m² thus becoming the brand’s largest store in Poland.
„We do our best to create an ideal environment for our tenants by building the right and broad offering that will attract customers as well as by a consistent strategy of launching well-thought modernizations. We base on our multi-year know-how as well as our ability to respond to the newest market trends. The impressive number of visitors has proven that Szczecin’s denizens had been awaiting the extension,” says Marek Gładki, Leasing & Asset Management department director at EPP.
Galaxy’s new reveal means not only broader offering for customers, but also a brand new, glass façade that contributes to the edifice’s modern look. The impressive façade is dotted with a glass dome with a diameter of about 43 m. Thanks to this architectural intervention Galaxy gets an enormous amount of sunshine that makes the building even more visitor-friendly.
The structure’s refurbishing had started much earlier, with the replacement of ceilings, floors, wall coverings and columns. Then, the new part was added. The next steps will include the light replacement in the old Galaxy as well as the thorough refreshment of the food court.
„The fact the project is fully-leased is an unquestionable success. Together with the extension, Galaxy has added a numerous group of new tenants. In addition, some of those already present in the first stage of the investment, showing their appreciation of the project, have decided to relocate and to open new, refurbished stores in the new part. This will considerably strengthen Galaxy’s position as the leader in the region,” says Tomasz Domoń, leasing regional director at Echo Investment, the company responsible for the mall’s construction and commercialization.
Galaxy shopping and entertainment centre, a part of a commercial assets portfolio owned by EPP, is located in a very centre of Szczecin and makes the key point in the city space.
