Plaza Río 2 shopping centre located on the banks of the Manzanares River and opposite the Matadero of Madrid, will open its doors on October 20.
The new shopping centre, whose investment spans €200m in its more than 40,000 m² of commercial space, will be one of the commercial centres of reference in the capital and will house up to 160 points of sale of large national and international groups. This is the first major real estate project of the current Government team of the town hall and will imply a strong economic boost in the area as it will generate approximately 2,000 jobs on site and after opening 1,800 in continuity.
Plaza Río 2 has been designed by the firm of architects Chapman Taylor and will have three commercial floors and a fourth dedicated exclusively to the restoration.
This project has been promoted by the Spain General Property Society (LSGIE), adding to its offer a total of eight shopping centres in the national territory. The first of them was Madrid 2 La Vaguada and since then has made others such as Plaza Loranca 2, Gran Vía 2, Plaza Norte 2, Gran Plaza 2, La Villa2, and Plaza Mar 2. For its management has the Society of Shopping Centres of Spain (SCCE) which offers its services, knowledge, and experience in this sector.
"We want with this inauguration Plaza Río 2 to become a benchmark of leisure and restoration in this area of Madrid. It has been a very promising project since its inception and we believe that both the jobs created and the boost to the region are a winning bet, " said Bertrand Chevallereau, CEO of LSGIE.
