Polish retail chain Pepco is expanding in Portugal. The company, which operates circa 4,000 shops in over 18 European countries, will open its first store in Coimbra in May. The retailer will further open 30 shops in Albufeira, Olhao, Elvas, Lisbon and Porto.
According to Jorge Barrie Ruiz, the Group’s Operations Manager for Portugal and Spain, the new spaces will be larger than their usual stores and the opening in Portugal will create 13 jobs.
The store, which will be part of the Pepco Plus brand, will offer shoppers three product categories comprising of general merchandising clothing and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). Products on offer will include personal hygiene, cleaning and laundry, drinks, snacks, pastries and even pet categories, all available at competitive prices.
Ruiz explains that the brand intends to set up store locations in Coimbra, Albufeira, Olhao, Elvas and Lisbon by the end of 2023. He also adds that the group intends to “explore more than 4,000 (stores) in 18 European countries, such as Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary or Italy.”
