Mulbury has struck a deal with Great Places Housing Group to build 65 new homes in Shaw, Greater Manchester. The €12.3m (£11m) development, which has been granted planning permission by Oldham Council, will revitalise a five-acre former industrial site off Moss Hey Street. The scheme will provide 34 homes for shared ownership and 31 for affordable rent. The homes will be a mix of two, three and four-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached properties.
Helen Spencer, Great Places’ director of development, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to create much-needed housing in Shaw. The mixed-tenure nature of the site means the development will offer a choice for customers, and we expect it to prove very popular. As a group, we are actively contributing to tackling the housing crisis and providing affordable quality housing across the North West and Yorkshire.”
Greg Mulligan, co-founder and director at Mulbury, said: “We’re thrilled to have been given the green light to progress this high-quality housing development alongside Great Places Housing Group. These vital new homes provide a solution for what had become a local eyesore, and the site’s location next to excellent transport connections, including the Metrolink tram line, will make it a great place to live. These new homes are part of our ambitious plan set in 2019 to build 3,000 new homes in the region over the next five years."
