Midsal Homes has been cleared for a major apartment project in Sandyford, despite a 145-page report on behalf of a residents group claiming it would be too tall for the area. The development will consist of 137 homes in four apartment blocks ranging in height up to six stories. It will also have an internal communal space, 137 car parking spaces and 340 bike parking spaces.
An Bord Pleanala approved permission for the project at the sites known as Glenina and Karuna, near Sandyford Road. The planning regulator gave several reasons for its approval of the project, including that it is in an area zoned for residential development and aligns with the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown development plan and the government aims to increase housing supply. An Bord Pleanala also said the nature and scale of the project are consistent with local planning guidelines.
