JRL Group's contractor, Midgard, has been selected to undertake the redevelopment of Newcombe House tower in Notting Hill Gate, London.
After receiving clearance from the London Mayor's office, the local Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea will now determine the planning.
The tower, built in the 1950s, will be extended by three floors with balconies added to one elevation. The project will also involve the construction of two new lower-level blocks on Kensington Church Street while retaining, refurbishing, and extending the existing 12-storey structure.
The building overhaul and extension will be part A, while parts B and C will be new build projects. A six-storey building on Kensington Church Street will provide retail space on the ground floor and additional workspace on the upper floors, with landscaped terraces on each level of the western elevation.
The final eight-storey building will offer affordable housing and a medical centre, designed in partnership with the NHS. A new landscaped square will also be created in front of Notting Hill Gate.
This redevelopment project has been a 10-year-long process that will finally come to an end with a positive decision from the Borough Council, allowing the demolition and major building work to commence.
