McAvoy has signed off a €43.8m deal to build Orsett Heath Academy, an eight-form secondary school building to be located in Grays, Essex.
Work on the new Orsett Heath Academy is set to start this August. The project was initially due September 2023 but has suffered a major delay moving to construction as a result of the collapse of Caledonian Modular, which originally was in line to deliver the three-storey school building.
Stride Treglown Architects designed the new 1,200-pupil school with input from civil and structural engineers Alan Wood & Partners and MEP Engineers Waldeck.
The new school will be built near to the school’s interim building, adjacent to King George’s Field, off Stanford Road, in Grays.
The majority of the teaching space will be located within a three-storey block. A sports hall and main hall at the northwest of the site will rise to two storeys in height.
