The new Westbourne River Project is a proposed system of new canals and water features, running from Bayswater, through to Belgravia to Pimlico. The 6-mile project is funded by Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund, QV3, Asian Investment bank, WanXiao, and two London-based private investors.

Once completed, the project will return some of the historic Westbourne River that has been underground since the 1800’s. Introducing new water features along Gloucester Terrace, Devonshire Terrace and Craven Terrace, as well as a feather that will run through Hyde Park from Long Water to Albert Gate.

The plans are yet to be submitted for planning permission that will need to be approved by both the London Mayor and national government. Once approved, the project is expected to cause obstruction to people and traffic within Central London during the 5-year build programme.

New apartment buildings will be developed by the ‘FlairPool’ brand along the banks of the canals and water features, designed by a range of world-wide architectural practices to seamlessly blend into existing architectural styles. The River Project is expected to increase residential prices in the area by up to 20% according to Kay & Co data.
