Accolade Group, in an investment of €55m, has completed its first warehouse park development in The Netherlands – its fifth foreign market.
Park Venlo South, which is being developed on the site of a former gravel factory in Roermond, close to the city of Venlo in the southeast of the country, comprises two buildings with a total area of 43,000m2.
The tenant of one of these – an 18,000m2 hall – is US fertility and women’s health specialist CooperSurgical, which will use it as a distribution hub for its EMEA and APAC operations. The facility comprises an office, a warehouse and training rooms.
The second building, with an area of 25,000m2, has been leased by GXO Logistics. As with all of its parks, Accolade is aiming for the highest level of BREEAM certification for this project, for which it has used prefabricated construction elements and has processed and recycled 80% of the waste created during its construction. Photovoltaic panels are also to be installed on the buildings’ roofs.
Milan Kratina, the CEO of Accolade said: "We are pleased to have been able to bring our first Dutch project to life on the outskirts of Venlo. This region is considered one of the most important for supplying The Netherlands and the rest of Western Europe, mainly due to the excellent transport infrastructure and rich industrial heritage. I’m confident that this project marks only the beginning for us here."
