VBO and Vastgoedpro to form Vastgoed Nederland

VBO and Vastgoedpro are going to merge. The industry and professional association members voted in favour of the plans on December 12 during both General Members' Meetings, officially marking the start of the new broad association under the name Vastgoed Nederland on January 1, 2025.

The merger of VBO and Vastgoedpro will create an association of more than 2,000 affiliated brokers, appraisers, and real estate professionals. Even more knowledge and expertise, a stronger voice towards politicians in The Hague and Brussels, an expansion of services to members and the possibility of joining new professional groups. An opportunity that both boards could not pass up.

"Advocacy with the legislator, quality requirements of our supporters and the importance of data management, among other things, require more and more investments. Scaling up will help VBO and Vastgoedpro enormously to support and facilitate the members as much as possible in everything," said VBO president Harry Bruijniks, who will also hold the chairman's gavel at Vastgoed Nederland. "It is really in the interest of the sector to take this step."

Earlier this year, VBO and Vastgoedpro signed a covenant expressing the desire to continue together under one flag. After an extensive and careful merger process, the moment has now arrived, to the enthusiasm of Cees de Jong (director of Vastgoedpro) and Hans van der Ploeg (director of VBO). They will act as a duo management in the new organization.

De Jong: "I am extremely proud that we have succeeded in bringing our beautiful associations together. I am looking forward to working together and have every confidence in it, because the click was there from the start. It is also good to mention that all employees will be given a place in the new organization. And we will need it, because there is a lot of work to do."

Van der Ploeg: "There are plenty of challenges in our industry, for example in the rental market, in the field of EU regulations, valuation, the data component and sustainability. The ideal opportunity to give shape to that with the new association."
