The leading gathering for the global retail sector, MAPIC 2013, hosted a large Turkish presence consisting of construction companies, retail developers, and government bodies, including the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT).
The country’s potential in retail space development was showcased to the attendees of the three-day event via a series of events and sessions detailing Turkey’s business climate, ongoing projects, and investment opportunities. Over 100 Turkish companies took part in the show held in Cannes, France.
On the first day of the event, ISPAT Vice President Arda Ermut addressed the guests of a dinner organized by the Turkish Council of Shopping Centers, proving information on Turkey’s economic success and the country’s rise to prominence in the last decade. The ISPAT Vice President also attended a session titled “Investing in Turkey – The International Retailer Perspective” as a speaker, briefing the participants on ISPAT’s worldwide investment promotion activities and services provided to foreign companies looking for business opportunities in Turkey.
Considered to be one of the leading countries in retail space development in Europe with over 265 shopping malls, Turkey is also one of the most visited countries of the world, having welcomed more than 35 million foreign visitors in 2012.
Annual shopping fests in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, and the capital, Ankara, add to Turkey’s appeal as a popular tourist destination.
