St Helens Council to decide on Penkford School demolition (GB)

The St Helens Council will soon decide on the proposal to demolish the disused Penkford School in Newton-le-Willows. The school, located at the intersection of Wharf Road and Common Road, has significantly deteriorated since its closure.

The demolition plan involves the removal of all structures on the premises while preserving the foundations, parking lots, and service roads. Asbestos is present in the building, and the council intends to engage a specialist for its safe removal.

The final decision will be reached during the council meeting on 3 September, and if approved, demolition is anticipated to start by late September.

This initiative could be a topic of discussion at upcoming development investment events in the North West, offering opportunities for industry professionals to explore new projects. Additionally, the property construction conference may include conversations about similar redevelopment schemes in the UK.
