Panattoni has been granted a loan for the development of a new distribution centre for a leading retailer. The €36.5m loan was granted by BNP Paribas. The BTS centre is to be built in Szczecin and will comprise an area of over 54,000m2.
“The loan granted by BNP Paribas for our BTS project in Sczecin marks a further step in our strategy to develop centres tailored to the needs of our customers. This is a region that attracts interest from foreign firms, particularly those from Western Europe and Scandinavia, who want to place their warehouses and production facilities here. Panattoni is already well on the way to delivering its first million square metres in the Western Pomerania region,” said Emilia Taczewska–Trojanska, the Head of Debt Finance Poland at Panattoni.
The distribution centre is being built to the highest warehousing standards under the principles of sustainable development, which will improve the energy efficiency of the building and reduce its impact on the environment. The centre is to be fitted with heat pumps, a 1 MWp solar installation, as well as greywater collection and energy management systems. The building is also to include a social area, a relaxation zone and 2,870m2 of high-standard office space. Facilities to support sustainable transport are also to be found on the site including a bicycle parking area and electric vehicle charging stations. The development is to be certified under BREEAM for the highest possible rating of Outstanding.
The new distribution centre is to be located in the eastern part of Szczecin (Dunikowo). This will enable the logistics needs of stores in north-western Poland to be served and also, due to the proximity of the border, the needs of stores in Germany’s Berlin region. The centre will provide work for 500 people while an SKM railway line will provide workers with an easy connection to the centre of Szczecin.
