NCC has been commissioned by the City of Acka to build Toijala Primary School in Ackas, south of Tampere, Finland. The order value amounts to c. €13.4m.
The parties have planned and designed the school for about one year. Now the local plan for the area has been approved as well as the building permit.
"It is gratifying that we can start the construction now when we have an approved local plan and a building permit in place. The new school will make the area more attractive and become an important part of our new school network," said Antti Peltola, mayor in Ackas.
The new primary school will accommodate about 300 students from pre-school class to grade 6. The three-story school building will have a total area of approximately 4,000m2.
"We’ve had a very good collaboration with the city of Ackas from an early start and have planned the project thoroughly. We are now ready to start the construction," said Petri Moksen, Unit Manager, NCC Building Nordics.
There is a focus on low energy consumption in the project and it will apply to the Finnish four-star environmental classification YL. Construction will begin in March 2025 and the school is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2026.
