Knight Frank’s shopping centre leasing team have earnt their first big win, having been retained as leasing agents on two schemes for Legal & General – The Arndale Centre, Eastbourne and The Grosvenor Centre, Northampton.
The Arndale Centre offers 355,000ft² (33,000m²) of space and work is about to commence on an extension of 175,000ft² (16,250m²) accommodating 25 new stores, seven restaurants and a nine screen Cineworld. Deals have been agreed with H&M and a Next to anchor the extension, which is currently 58% let by floor space with a further 14% under offer.
The Grosvenor Centre, Northampton’s dominant retail destination, offers 320,000ft² (29,725m²) of newly refurbished space. Retailers Primark and Next recently took 50,000 and 16,000ft² (4,645 and 1,500m²) at the centre respectively.
Rowen Grandison and David Legat were recruited as partners earlier this year to run the newly formed shopping centre leasing team, working alongside Charlie Barke’s shopping centre investment team. They have brought with them extensive market expertise.
David Legat, partner, Knight Frank shopping centre leasing team, commented: „We are extremely pleased to have been retained by L&G on these two key instructions. This is extremely positive news for Knight Frank and provides us with an excellent platform to grow our Shopping Centre Leasing business further. Both centres offer fantastic opportunities for retailers, particularly in the near future with the new space at the Arndale Centre, Eastbourne.“
