HEC Paris launches €230m transformation of flagship campus into green innovation hub

HEC Paris has unveiled an ambitious €230m redevelopment of its Jouy-en-Josas campus, signalling a bold new chapter for one of Europe’s top business schools. With construction led by Bouygues Construction and a completion date set for 2031, the “Campus of the Future” aims to cement HEC’s global leadership in sustainable, interdisciplinary and experiential education.

In a move set to attract international investors, developers, and academic partners, HEC Paris has announced a sweeping redevelopment of its 135-hectare site, transforming over 40,000 m² of educational, residential and innovation space. The plan, developed by Snøhetta, NeM, Pierre-Antoine Gatier (ACMH) and RF Studio, is managed by Sogelym Dixence and Linkcity, with construction awarded to Bouygues Construction. The project is financed by a mix of loans and philanthropic support through the HEC Foundation.

The redesigned campus will revolve around a central “Campus Heart” – a mixed-use academic and social nucleus linking master’s, PhD, and executive education programmes. The 5,000 students hosted annually from over 130 countries will benefit from a new 850-seat auditorium, innovation labs, amphitheatres, dining and leisure spaces, and cutting-edge hybrid learning environments.

“This project is much more than a construction initiative – it’s a promise. A promise to future generations: to offer a place where academic excellence, environmental responsibility, modernity and openness come together,” said Éloïc Peyrache, Dean of HEC Paris.

While the spotlight is on academic excellence and sustainability, the development’s commercial potential is significant. Developers and long-term investors will note opportunities in hospitality, executive training residencies, cultural programming, and sports infrastructure. Notably, the full renovation of the Château and its annexes as a premium executive education centre opens the door to high-value partnerships with multinational corporations seeking immersive leadership programmes in a world-class setting.

In line with France’s green building ambitions, the campus targets BREEAM “Excellent”, BBCA low-carbon and BiodiverCity “Excellent” labels. With new cycle paths, permeable surfaces and tree-lined gardens, the masterplan not only promotes wellbeing and biodiversity but positions HEC Paris as a global reference for climate-conscious campus design.

“This project – the kind the school undertakes only once every 50 years – will reinforce HEC Paris’s global leadership and enhance France’s ability to attract top students and professors from around the world,” added Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman of the HEC Paris Board.
