Greggs to cut 820 jobs (GB)

Greggs has unveiled plans to cut 820 jobs as due to Covid trading conditions as various parts of the UK currently remain under new lockdown restrictions. The company, which currently employs 25,000 people, will continue its commitment to keeping the staff and the customers safe by using testing to identify and isolate anyone found to be positive, to limit the risk of them spreading the virus to other colleagues at work. It has also been announced that Greggs will continue to roll out delivery service via Just Eat to more shops nationwide, and will further develop its Click and Collect offering which provides bookable collection times and availability for customers.

Greggs has shown its resilience and ability to adapt to new conditions and have also announced that it remains positive about the prospects of expanding its network of new hopes in areas with improving demand. The company hopes the new openings will help to mitigate job losses in those areas.
