Newmark secures strategic UK retail expansion for Monsoon and Accessorize across high street and airports

Newmark has secured over 835m² of new and expanded retail space for Monsoon and Accessorize across the UK, reinforcing the brands’ high street presence while accelerating their entry into the competitive travel retail market. This strategic push comes as airports nationwide invest in terminal upgrades, offering unique opportunities for high-visibility brand positioning.

The expansion includes new stores at Canada Square in Canary Wharf and The Beacon in Eastbourne, both of which opened on 27 May 2025, along with upcoming launches at Chantry Place in Norwich and an enlarged unit at Manchester’s Trafford Centre. The brands' retail footprint is growing across key high-footfall zones, ensuring optimal consumer exposure.

In the travel retail sector, Accessorize completed significant upgrades to stores at Birmingham and Glasgow Airports, while Monsoon marked its debut with two new outlets at Gatwick Airport. Accessorize is also refurbishing its stores in both the North and South Terminals at Gatwick. These moves reflect growing confidence in the rebound of airport retail, where foot traffic and dwell times remain resilient, particularly among high-value demographics.

“Monsoon’s and Accessorize’s continued expansion into high-performing retail destinations across the UK reflects its strong positioning and clear growth strategy,” said Amanda Wakefield, Director at Newmark, who led the high street leasing. “It’s been a privilege to represent the brands over the past five years and to support its momentum in securing prominent, high-footfall locations.”

From an investor’s viewpoint, what stands out is the brands’ consistent re-investment in brick-and-mortar during a time of evolving consumer behaviour. With more than 130 UK stores and a global footprint of over 350, Accessorize is targeting 10 to 20 new openings annually. This includes 17 active travel retail units, with growth backed by robust retail leasing strategies and strong tenant appeal in mixed-use and transport-led destinations.

“Travel retail presents a unique set of opportunities – where visibility, speed and competitive positioning are paramount,” added Sharon Daley, Director at Newmark. “These wins reflect thoughtful brand alignment, strong execution and a clear understanding of the travel retail environment.”
