Leading Danish footwear brand ECCO has entered the Turkish market for the first time, opening two new stores in Istanbul in the month of March. ECCO Turkey’s first 139 m² store opened on March 7, 2014 in Marmara Forum, followed by the opening of its second store at Forum Istanbul one week later.
The retailer plans to open five more stores in Turkey this year, making a dynamic entrance to the Turkish market. ECCO registered a record turnover in 2013, reaching €1.1 billion, while its net profit after taxes amounted to €106 million.
ECCO Group CEO Dieter Kasprzak said: "We consider Turkey a market with huge opportunity for us. We are planning to open five more stores in Istanbul during 2014 and to reach a total number of 15 stores next year”.
ECCO Türkiye General Director Deniz Erda added: “Istanbul will be ECCO’s main focus points in the first few years. However, in the medium term we will consider opportunities in other cities like Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Bodrum. In the next three years, ECCO will make investments in the country to consolidate its position in the market”.
