In October 2015, NCC was commissioned to construct a new University Hospital in Örebro. Region Örebro and NCC have now agreed on the design and implementation of the project. The order is worth SEK1.5bn (€160.8m) and will be registered in Q2.

NCC and Region Örebro County will run the project in partnership, and the first steps were to determine the scope, organization, project engineering and budget of the project. The parties have worked together to carefully plan the project and prepare detailed system documents, and have agreed on a contract amount of SEK1.5bn (€160.8m).

The new building, the H building, will replace existing premises that no longer meet current requirements. The new building will be constructed according to Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC) Gold and much focus will be devoted to energy efficiency.

“The H building is Region Örebro County’s major investment for the future and provides us with excellent prerequisites to continue to operate and develop highly specialized care moving forward. We look forward to an excellent partnership with NCC working on this large and important project,” said Marie-Louise Forsberg Fransson (Social Democrat), chairman of the board, region Örebro County.

The H building will contain residential care, outpatient care and surgery. It will be a challenge to build the new hospital with as little impact as possible on ongoing operations at the existing hospital.

“NCC has extensive experience of building major hospitals, which we will utilize in this project. A partnering project such as this means that, at an early stage, we can plan together with the Region to obtain the best results,” said Henrik Landelius, head of NCC Building in Sweden.

The order is expected to be registered during Q2 2016 and the project was first announced in October 2015.
