North Lanarkshire Council has granted full planning permission to Ashfield Land and Taylor Wimpey for the development of 160 new homes at Glasgow Road, Bargeddie.

Acting on behalf of Ashfield Land and Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, Lambert Smith Hampton secured full planning permission to develop the 26 acre site for the creation of three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached properties.

Steven McGarva, Director at Ashfield Land, said: “This has been an ambitious project especially as the land at Glasgow Road did not have any planning status when we purchased it. We have worked with Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and Lambert Smith Hampton to develop proposals that would not only satisfy the requirements of North Lanarkshire Council, but would also create an attractive and appealing place to live.”

Work on site is expected to begin in August 2017.  Taylor Wimpey will be building upon its success in North Lanarkshire at Chapelhall, Holytown, Tannochside and Ravenscraig.

Steven Andrew, Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission to develop the land at Glasgow Road, Bargeddie. North Lanarkshire has been an extremely popular choice for our customers and we look forward to commencing work later this year. Our focus is on delivering an extensive choice of high-quality new homes that will appeal to a wide range of buyers in and around Bargeddie.”

In addition to delivering 160 new homes, the development will make a significant investment towards education improvements, including contributions towards the provision of a new primary school.

Graeme Laing, Planning Director at Lambert Smith Hampton, adds: “North Lanarkshire Council was keen to strike a balance between delivering the housing that the area needs, enhancing existing local community facilities, and creating a development that would complement the local vernacular. Having unanimously supported our client’s planning application, they clearly feel our client’s development proposals were the perfect solution. The delivery of new homes is a priority across Scotland and this development, alongside the other 4,000 new homes that our Scottish planning team is currently advising on, are fundamental for future economic stability and growth.
