Reef Group (Reef) has appointed Ardmore, the construction company, to deliver the final phase of TRIBECA, London’s largest purpose-built life science campus, in the King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter.
Three new buildings named The Reflector, The Assembly and The Connector will offer modern and advanced lab spaces for life science businesses. The buildings will have direct entrances to the new TRIBECA Square, along with new shops, restaurants and rooftop terraces. Additionally, a twelve-storey residential building will provide private and affordable homes. All of the buildings will be built to the highest sustainability and connectivity design standards, achieving BREEAM Excellent and a Wired Score Platinum Rating.
Phase 2 follows the delivery of The Apex, the first laboratory building on the TRIBECA campus which has secured The London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) as its first tenant. The Apex will build on LBIC’s existing provision to offer additional high-tech lab facilities to its growing customer base, with the new facility set to strengthen its value proposition and attractiveness as a world-leading destination for bioscience research and development.
Peter Langly-Smith, Development Director at Reef Group, comments: “Starting work on Phase 2 of TRIBECA brings us closer to completing this new and exciting life sciences ecosystem at the heart of the Knowledge Quarter in King’s Cross. TRIBECA will deliver world-class facilities and strengthen the UK’s life sciences offer, allowing it to grow and increase its international competitiveness. There is no better place for our country’s businesses to thrive than in the midst of other leaders in science exploration and technology.”
James Byrne, Ardmore Director said: “We are thrilled to have been appointed to deliver the final phase of the TRIBECA life sciences campus in King’s Cross. I am especially pleased that Reef has shown such confidence in us to deliver one of their most prestigious schemes. We’ve put together a highly skilled team for this project, who have worked under a PCSA for the last 12 months to ensure the scheme remained deliverable and viable. This award underlines our ability to de-risk complex projects, combining our extensive experience of large-scale commercial and residential construction and our ability to unlock logistically challenging schemes.”
