ALDI has celebrated the milestone of opening its 100th store in Italy. The retailer is now represented in 6 regions of Northern Italy: Trentino-Alto Adige, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and employes over 2,000 members of staff.
“Italy is a priority market for us and we continue to invest in expanding our network," commented Michael Gscheidlinger, Country Managing Director Italy of ALDI. "In our convenience stores, we offer quality fresh products at affordable discount prices, and with two logistics centres of Oppeano (VR) and Landriano (PV), we do not intend to stop after achieving this successful milestone, but will move forward with new developments ”.
The stores are located in strategic areas of northern Italy, where, depending on the needs of local consumers, the most suitable store format is selected, with sizes ranging from 600m² and 1,500m². Aldi also offers a large number of SKUs bearing a Made in Italy certification.
Moreover, equipped with photovoltaic panels of over 24,000m², the equivalent of 3.5 football fields, the 100 ALDI stores produced over 3 million kWh of green energy, allowing to save 1,758 tons of CO2. The company also provides 65 charging stations for electric vehicles, in continuity with the group's commitment to green sustainability, which are available to ALDI customers.
