Environmental awareness extends to reducing, and in some cases, eliminating, paper and plastic filling from packaging. The facility uses automated height reduction machines for nearly 99% of the boxes produced, reducing package sizes and maximising transportation efficiency and minimising carbon emissions. In addition, the facility promotes sustainability by utilizing an intelligent battery charging system and advanced queuing processes during battery recovery, reducing the total number of batteries needed for material handling equipment.
The warehouse in Bor employs around 200 people from the community. With its best use of advanced automation, the facility not only speeds up work processes but also prioritizes employee well-being by implementing ergonomic solutions. In a strong commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where their peers reside, the operation supports local animal shelters through donations of zooplus pet products. This effort reflects the shared values of zooplus and GXO in contributing to the well-being of the community and the environment.
The new fulfilment centre in Bor has already started its activity and was officially inaugurated with an opening ceremony, in the presence of the zooplus and GXO management teams.
