Whitbread PLC has recently acquired a new development site on the edge of Manchester's Northern Quarter from Premcor on Rochdale Road. The site comes with planning permission for a stunning 229-bedroom hotel, which aligns with Whitbread's plan to enhance its portfolio of Manchester city centre hotels.
The project is set to break ground in the summer of 2024. The GMI Construction Group will execute it and is a significant move for Whitbread in the area. This development highlights the company's commitment to Manchester, where it currently operates six Premier Inn hotels in the city centre, along with several other hotels in the surrounding regions.
Paul Smith, Whitbread’s Property Acquisition Manager, said: “This investment on Rochdale Road significantly bolsters our development pipeline, introducing 229 additional bedrooms in a strategically chosen part of the city centre. This site is perfectly positioned to meet our guests’ needs, ensuring Whitbread’s continued growth in Manchester.”
The planned hotel will not only increase Premier Inn’s room capacity but also enhance the guest experience with a blend of standard and Premier Plus rooms. The ground floor is set to feature an integrated restaurant, bar, and check-in area, adding to the locale’s appeal.
