Uliving completes €76.9m student residence project (GB)

Uliving, the student accommodation developer and operator, has completed its new €76.9m (£67.5m) student accommodation development for the University of Essex in Colchester. Known as The Copse, the new scheme comprises 643 new student bedrooms laid out in cluster apartments for between four and 12 students. The development continues Uliving’s partnership with the University and extends the Knowledge Gateway, a research and technology park at its Colchester Campus. The project follows Uliving’s refurbishment of 780 student bedrooms as part of The Quays and the development of 648 new bedrooms as part of The Meadows, which completed in 2013.

Uliving’s CEO, Axel Boutrolle, said: “Well-designed and well-managed accommodation is a vital element of the student experience and we are thrilled to have worked again with our partners at the University of Essex to improve their student living offer. An innovative funding arrangement was key to enabling this project to go ahead and it was delivered on time thanks to our construction partners at Bouygues UK.”

Chris Oldham of the University of Essex, added: “With the University of Essex an increasingly popular place to study, providing a first-rate living and learning experience is a key priority for us. High-quality, purpose-built on-campus accommodation is at the heart of that and we’re pleased to be able to welcome residents of The Copse to their new homes.”
