U+I secures planning for Morden Wharf scheme (GB)

U+I has secured planning permission for Morden Wharf, U+I and Morden College's €896m (£770m) Gross Development Value (GDV) project on the Greenwich Peninsular in London. This is a significant milestone for U+I and adds a third planning success to the detailed consents granted previously to two other core regeneration schemes at Landmark Court and Phase 1 at Mayfield.

Set over nineteen acres, once completed, Morden Wharf will deliver up to 1,500 new homes (including 35% affordable), 18,580m² (200,000ft²) of warehousing and creative industry space, 4,645m² (50,000ft²) of retail and convenience space, a brewery and more than six acres of high-quality public realm, including a four-acre landscaped park along the River Thames.

Richard Upton, Chief Executive Officer at U+I, commented:  "We are delighted with the planning decision at Morden Wharf, providing a blueprint to deliver a distinctive mixed-use neighbourhood opening up 275 metres of Thames riverfront. This includes much needed new homes, innovative office and creative space, as well as beautiful green landscape and community space. Our scheme will support thousands of new jobs and deliver €49m (£42m) of benefit to the local community each year."
