Staycity Group expands Wilde aparthotel brand with Vienna and Lisbon openings

Dublin-based aparthotel operator Staycity Group has launched two new Wilde properties in Vienna and Lisbon, marking a significant expansion of its lifestyle boutique brand across Europe. The openings come as the aparthotel sector continues to attract institutional investment, with the hybrid accommodation model demonstrating resilient performance in urban markets where traditional hotels face increasing operational costs and regulatory pressures.

The 136-room Wilde Vienna Fleischmarkt occupies a 300-year-old building in the Austrian capital's historic centre, featuring hotel rooms, self-catering studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments. Ground-floor social space Oscar's includes a lobby, bar, shop and café, with interiors by designer Stephanie Barba Mendoza showcasing the building's Viennese archways and floor-to-ceiling windows. The venue partners with local deli owner Marco Simonis to recreate Vienna's coffee house culture with an all-day menu including Viennese specialities.

Wilde Lisbon Liberdade comprises 95 rooms on Rua Castilho, within walking distance of Marques de Pombal Metro station and Avenida da Liberdade. The property offers hotel rooms, including ninth-floor units with private terraces, and studio apartments accommodating up to four guests. Facilities include a 30-seat co-working mezzanine, bar, lounge, café-deli, restaurant and courtyard centred around a water fountain. The interior design references Lisbon's maritime heritage and connection to the Tagus River.

"The stunning interiors of these two new locations make a real impact, drawing on their surroundings and history and complementing the proportions of both buildings perfectly,"
said Kelly Morgan, Wilde managing director. "Like other Wilde's, Lisbon and Vienna both focus on offering high levels of guest service, making them the perfect choice for both business and leisure travellers and in particular for the new generation of digital nomads, whether they're staying for two nights or two months."

The aparthotel model's appeal to investors lies in its ability to capture extended-stay demand whilst maintaining operational flexibility across market cycles. With European cities implementing stricter short-term rental regulations, professionally managed aparthotels occupy an increasingly valuable position between traditional hotels and residential accommodation, offering institutional-grade assets with diversified revenue streams from both corporate and leisure segments.

Wilde
now operates across Berlin, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Manchester, Vienna and four London locations at Aldgate, Covent Garden, Liverpool Street and Paddington. Staycity Group manages 6,500 aparthotel rooms across 40 properties in 20 European cities, with further openings planned in Amsterdam and Porto.
