Skanska secures €36m student scheme in Gothenburg (SE)

Skanska has signed an agreement with SGS Studentbostader for the construction of a 327-unit student accommodation scheme and a pre-school in Gothenburg, Sweden. The contract is worth about €36m (SEK 385m), which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the second quarter of 2019. Located in the city district of Sandarna, the project will comprise six seven- and eight-story buildings, totalling 22,000m². The construction work will begin in August 2019, with the completion expected for 2022.

"It is very gratifying that we can implement this construction project for SGS Studentbostader. We have been talking for several years about the possibility of jointly creating attractive student housing and now we have landed in this agreement, which feels very good," said Mikael Hammarfjord, district manager, Skanska Sverige.

"Being able to order the construction of 327 apartments by Skanska feels very positive regarding achieving our goal of building 800 apartments over a five-year period," commented Magnus Bonander, Real Estate Manager at SGS Studentbostader.
