Scallier is opening another facility under the Funshop Park brand. The retail park of c. 10,000m2, located in the Arad district, is nearing completion. The official opening of the centre is scheduled for March 6th of this year.
The new park has attracted well-known brands, including DM, Sinsay, Pepco, KIK, Tedi, and Agroland. The complex will house a popular chain fitness club, Stay Fit Gym, as well as several restaurants. The project includes an outdoor food court and a playground. Lidl supermarket, which is the main tenant of the facility, has been serving local customers since December of last year.
Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier, said: “The Romanian retail market is growing rapidly, standing out with its investment dynamics compared to other European markets. According to estimates, over 800 thousand sq m. of modern retail space is currently under construction in this country – twice as much as in Poland. Romania is among the leading countries benefiting from EU funds. The country is experiencing significant retail sales growth, far exceeding the EU average. These factors undoubtedly encourage the development of new retail projects in this market. Especially since the level of modern retail space saturation is one of the lowest in Europe, with Romania’s retail stock being three times smaller than Poland’s. There is a lack of attractive retail offerings in many parts of the country, particularly in suburban and regional locations. That is where we place our investments. Taking advantage of Romania’s favourable market conditions, we have been developing retail park projects here for several years. We plan to consistently increase the company's market share, highlighting our commitment to its development.”
The Arad investment marks the seventh retail park developed by Scallier in Romania. The company’s portfolio includes retail parks in Rosiorii de Vede, Focsani, Timisoara, Turda, Vaslui, and Mosnita. Scallier has delivered a total of approximately 60,000m2 of GLA to the local market. All retail facilities developed by the company are BREEAM-certified.
The decision to develop a retail park in the Arad area, located in western Romania with a population of approximately 150 thousand, was driven by the strong demand for modern retail space and residents' preference for convenient, local shopping experiences.
The retail park that Scallier is opening in Arad is nearly fully leased, with about 95% of the space already contracted. The modern shopping facility will provide the local community with a diverse offering, including stores from well-known international brands as well as retail and service options from Romanian businesses, including local enterprises.
