Sacyr Vallehermoso SA already controls 8% of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA and has requested five members on the bank´s board, sources close to BBVA said.
According to the sources, Sacyr Vallehermoso chairman Luis del Rivero visited BBVA CEO Jose Ignacio Goirigolzarri on November 22 with the request.
Goirigolzarri asked for proof with regulators of Sacyr Vallehermoso´s holding in the bank, the sources said, without providing further details.
Earlier, Sacyr Vallehermoso said it is studying the acquisition of 3.1% of BBVA for about € 1.25 billion.
